Update on Remittance Issue Sent 07/23/2013: The clearinghouse is continuing to work with North Carolina Medicaid regarding the zero dollar remittances. We will send additional notifications as soon as more information is available. If you did not register the clearinghouse as your billing agent for electronic remittance, it is possible that the clearinghouse will not receive your remittance files. Providers can make billing agent updates in NCTracks.
Update on Taxonomy Codes: North Carolina Medicaid is denying a majority of claims due to incorrect Taxonomy codes. It is important providers use the correct Taxonomy codes that have been registered in NCTracks. For additional assistance regarding Taxonomy codes, please see North Carolina Medicaid's "Step-by-Step Guide to NCTracks Taxonomy".
• The taxonomy codes for NCTracks are different than the taxonomy codes used for legacy HPES MMISS and NPPES.
• The taxonomy codes for NCTracks were chosen by the State clinical, enrollment, and rate staff to align with NC DHHS policies.
• The website to confirm taxonomy codes and locations NCTracks has on file for providers is: http://ncmmis.ncdhhs.gov/taxonomy.asp.
• Use these taxonomy codes for the Billing, Rendering, Attending, Operating, and Service Facility providers on your claims.

No action is required on the remittance file issue. However, please ensure that the Taxonomy codes you intend to use have been registered on NCTracks to avoid claim rejections and remittance delays.
