Google Health account holders can now use the Direct Project to move their personal health information to a Microsoft HealthVault account.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT’s Direct Project specifies a simple, scalable, standards-based way for participants to send authenticated, encrypted health information to known, trusted recipients over the Internet.

With Google Health scheduled to close January 1, 2012, users can work with Direct Project’s messaging protocols to successfully and securely transfer personal health information over to Microsoft’s HealthVault.
