CollaborateMD Donates on Behalf of Employees; Matches Donations
ORLANDO, FL. – December 14, 2009 – CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, today completed their 2009 employee-supported philanthropic contributions campaign. Since CollaborateMD Founder and CEO Douglas Kegler led the charge this past October to introduce the program, his company has worked to spread awareness, donate personal funds, and volunteer for one of the many charities CollaborateMD supports.
Kegler has long supported many charities, including American Forests, with whom CollaborateMD partnered in Q1 2008 to launch the “Plant a Tree – Go ASP” program. Other annual contributions have included UMCOR, St. Jude Cancer Research, Covenant House, Habitat for Humanity, and Junior Achievement of Central Florida. More recently, CollaborateMD became a gold sponsor of the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction in Orlando, Florida.
The list of philanthropic organizations to which CollaborateMD donates has grown greatly since the beginning of Q4, at which time Kegler committed to make a donation on behalf of every single employee to the charity of that employee’s choice. In addition to the already established list of organizations above, newly supported charities include Rock Pink, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Orlando Sentinel Family Fund Holiday Campaign, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, Cross Point Church, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Walk Now for Autism Speaks, Z88.3 FM, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Beta Center. In addition to the individual donation, CollaborateMD offered 100% matching for all employee contributions.
The total amount of 2009 employee-supported philanthropic contributions campaign donations exceeded $10,000, which represents only a fraction of the total donations made by CollaborateMD for the year.

Who turned out the lights?!
Now that Daylight Saving Time has officially ended, you have probably noticed it’s a little darker outside as you head home from a day at the office, right? Three-month Beta Period Exceeds User Expectations
ORLANDO, FL. – October 21, 2009 – CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, today rolled out the stable release of 8.3, an update that remained in beta for the past three months while users were encouraged to test and report their experiences.
In addition to stringent internal testing by CollaborateMD’s quality assurance department, feedback was collected from customers via the newly launched user portal forums which enables users to gather together, share ideas, collaborate on issues, promote product innovation, and increase awareness and understanding of product features. Responses were carefully monitored by the production and development teams, and necessary changes were quickly made.
“After such a successful beta launch,” commented Patrick Mann, CollaborateMD vice president of engineering, “we have been anticipating a smooth, highly controlled release of 8.3. As our production and support teams oversee this roll-out, our software engineers are already hard at work on future releases.”
As a benefit of CollaborateMD’s hybrid SaaS platform, customers are able to control version updates in order to maintain operational stability. Upon installing the newest version, which is available at no additional cost, users can easily migrate their operations from one version to the next with minimal interruption to their daily workflow.
The 8.3 release contains significant upgrades to existing service offerings and includes key features such as review services with high-level claim scrubbing, custom labels and superbills, enhanced scheduler tools, appointment confirmation, and the CollaborateMD User Portal.

On Saturday, October 10, CollaborateMD will be unavailable between the hours of 11PM and 3AM EST for scheduled system maintenance. During this maintenance window we will be bringing online our new primary data center. In order to facilitate this transition, all CollaborateMD users will be required to download a maintenance update. This update should occur automatically when you start your software on/after October 11th. Now that we have a few months of beta under our belts, I would like to take a moment to provide an update on the progress we’ve been making with 8.3. To start, I ask you all to join me in expressing appreciation to all users currently working in beta mode. It’s the utilization, testing, and feedback these users provide which drastically shortens a release cycle and improves the overall performance of each new version we offer. We couldn’t do it without our beta testers.
Secondly, to those currently on 8.3 beta, keep the feedback coming! The majority of all reported issues have been resolved, and we are on – if not ahead of – schedule to complete all beta testing and officially launch 8.3 this fall. As is expected with a beta release, as more of you have installed 8.3, you’ve enabled our QA and development teams to discover hidden performance issues, which we strive to correct in real-time, whenever possible.
Our team will continue monitoring the portal forums to uncover and correct new issues as they arise. We greatly appreciate this opportunity to serve you, and look forward to a successful “fully loaded” 8.3 launch in the coming weeks!

Healthcare Company Partners with American Forests for “Plant a Tree” Program
WASHINGTON, DC. & ORLANDO, FL. – August 26, 2009 – CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, has recommitted to their “Plant a Tree by Going ASP” program. The program is being conducted in cooperation with American Forests, the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizen’s conservation organization.
CollaborateMD kicked off the program in March 2008 by donating the funds needed to purchase 3,000 trees—one for each active user on its system at the time—to American Forests. This year, as contributions remain contingent on the Company’s new customer acquisitions, 3,500 trees will be purchased to help offset their estimated carbon dioxide output per annum.
“Our Internet-based, hybrid SaaS solution helps to reduce carbon emissions by offering an environmentally safe alternative to server-based applications,” commented Douglas Kegler, CollaborateMD president and CEO. “Planting trees to provide an effective means for absorbing and storing the carbon we emit is the next logical step in protecting and preserving our environment for future generations.”
Since 1875, American Forests has been working to protect, restore and enhance the natural resource of trees and forests, planting trees in over 500 projects that span every state in the U.S. as well as 21 countries worldwide. Every dollar donated will pay to plant one tree in one of the many projects American Forests has underway and will help the organization reach its goal to plant 100 million trees by 2020.
