Medical Billing Software Provider Promotes Philanthropic Contributions Company-wide

CollaborateMD Donates on Behalf of Employees; Matches Donations

ORLANDO, FL. – December 14, 2009 – CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, today completed their 2009 employee-supported philanthropic contributions campaign. Since CollaborateMD Founder and CEO Douglas Kegler led the charge this past October to introduce the program, his company has worked to spread awareness, donate personal funds, and volunteer for one of the many charities CollaborateMD supports.

Kegler has long supported many charities, including American Forests, with whom CollaborateMD partnered in Q1 2008 to launch the “Plant a Tree – Go ASP” program. Other annual contributions have included UMCOR, St. Jude Cancer Research, Covenant House, Habitat for Humanity, and Junior Achievement of Central Florida. More recently, CollaborateMD became a gold sponsor of the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction in Orlando, Florida.

The list of philanthropic organizations to which CollaborateMD donates has grown greatly since the beginning of Q4, at which time Kegler committed to make a donation on behalf of every single employee to the charity of that employee’s choice. In addition to the already established list of organizations above, newly supported charities include Rock Pink, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Orlando Sentinel Family Fund Holiday Campaign, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, Cross Point Church, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Walk Now for Autism Speaks, Z88.3 FM, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Beta Center. In addition to the individual donation, CollaborateMD offered 100% matching for all employee contributions.

The total amount of 2009 employee-supported philanthropic contributions campaign donations exceeded $10,000, which represents only a fraction of the total donations made by CollaborateMD for the year.

ORLANDO, FL. – October 21, 2009 – CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, today rolled out the stable release of 8.3, an update that remained in beta for the past three months while users were encouraged to test and report their experiences.

In addition to stringent internal testing by CollaborateMD’s quality assurance department, feedback was collected from customers via the newly launched user portal forums which enables users to gather together, share ideas, collaborate on issues, promote product innovation, and increase awareness and understanding of product features. Responses were carefully monitored by the production and development teams, and necessary changes were quickly made.

“After such a successful beta launch,” commented Patrick Mann, CollaborateMD vice president of engineering, “we have been anticipating a smooth, highly controlled release of 8.3. Medical Billing Software Users Boost CollaborateMD Philanthropic Contributions

Healthcare Company Partners with American Forests for “Plant a Tree” Program
WASHINGTON, DC. & ORLANDO, FL. – August 26, 2009 – CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, has recommitted to their “Plant a Tree by Going ASP” program. The program is being conducted in cooperation with American Forests, the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizen’s conservation organization.

CollaborateMD kicked off the program in March 2008 by donating the funds needed to purchase 3,000 trees—one for each active user on its system at the time—to American Forests. This year, as contributions remain contingent on the Company’s new customer acquisitions, 3,500 trees will be purchased to help offset their estimated carbon dioxide output per annum.

“Our Internet-based, hybrid SaaS solution helps to reduce carbon emissions by offering an environmentally safe alternative to server-based applications,” commented Douglas Kegler, CollaborateMD president and CEO. “Planting trees to provide an effective means for absorbing and storing the carbon we emit is the next logical step in protecting and preserving our environment for future generations.”

Since 1875, American Forests has been working to protect, restore and enhance the natural resource of trees and forests, planting trees in over 500 projects that span every state in the U.S. as well as 21 countries worldwide. Every dollar donated will pay to plant one tree in one of the many projects American Forests has underway and will help the organization reach its goal to plant 100 million trees by 2020. For more information on American Forests or to donate, visit www.americanforests.org.

CollaborateMD Rank Advances on Inc. 5,000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies List

Medical Billing Software Provider Moves Up 48 Positions in 2009 with 280% Revenue Growth

NEW YORK, NY. & ORLANDO, FL. – August 13, 2009 – Inc. Magazine today ranked CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, No. 1125 on its annual ranking of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the country. The 2009 list, which ranks CollaborateMD as 77th out of over 300 health industry companies nationwide, represents the most comprehensive look at America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs.

Ranked as 4th out of 26 health companies in Florida, and recently awarded as a Top 100 Company for Working Families by the Orlando Sentinel, CollaborateMD has a notable presence in the southeast US where they are headquartered. Serving nearly 4,000 providers across all 50 states, their growth continues nationwide. Utilizing their proprietary hybrid Software as a Service (SaaS) model, CollaborateMD perpetuates this growth by offering a unique solution that is faster and more efficient than a browser-based program, and yet more flexible than a stand-alone, locally run application.

The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2005 through 2008. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent, with 2005 revenue totaling at least $200,000 and 2008 revenue totaling at least $2 million.

“Savvy trend spotters and those who invest in private companies know that the Inc. 5000 is the best place to find out about young companies that are achieving success through a wide variety of unprecedented business models, as well as older private companies that are still expanding at an impressive rate,” said Inc. 5000 project manager Jim Melloan. “That’s why our list is so eagerly anticipated every year.”

“Last year’s ranking indicated that our Company had reached an important growth milestone,” commented Douglas Kegler, CollaborateMD president and CEO. “The fact that we have advanced our position at both the state and national level illustrates how vital a high-value, feature-rich, and cost-effective medical billing solution is to our industry. We are fortunate to serve such a critical need in the health information technology arena.”

“When Larsen approached us with the goal of optimizing their workflow to maintain and grow their business, we knew our solution would be the perfect fit to meet their short- and long-term goals,” commented Eric Rosselot, CollaborateMD vice president of sales. “Helping our customers lower costs is always a key objective, but working with them to improve net profit to be reinvested in continued growth is even more in line with our Company mantra.”

CollaborateMD Launches New Medical Billing Software Release

New Features in 8.3 Beta to Optimize Customers’ Clinical & Financial Workflow

ORLANDO, FL.—July 21, 2009—CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software for physician offices and third-party billing services, today announced that the official 8.3 beta release is now available to all customers. Until today, only select customers were offered the beta software update. These customers included those who engaged with CollaborateMD via social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook, subscribed to the Company’s blog, or attended the first annual CollaborateMD user conference this past May.

Patrick Mann, vice president of engineering, had this to say about the initial beta customer invitation process: “The phased approach we’ve implemented is essential to the success of this update. This process ensures our development and quality assurance teams have sufficient time for testing and modifications, while affording customer support and sales teams a longer runway with which to provide live training webinars and on-demand support during migration.”

Unlike with traditional Software as a Service (SaaS) models which often centrally control upgrades without regard to customer readiness, CollaborateMD’s hybrid SaaS software allows customers to control version updates in order to maintain operational stability. Upon installing the newest version, which is available at no additional cost, customers can easily migrate their operations from one version to the next with minimal interruption to their daily workflow.

The 8.3 update contains significant upgrades to existing service offerings and will include key features such as review services with high-level claim scrubbing, custom labels and superbills, enhanced scheduler tools, appointment confirmation, and the CollaborateMD User Portal.

The portal serves as an integrated web-based platform comprised of a suite of tools intended to augment the CollaborateMD practice management and medical billing software package. One such tool—enhanced reporting—provides a more flexible and scalable medium for business intelligence and reporting, allowing for users to build, export, and share rich content reports in a wide variety of formats. CollaborateMD forums, another feature set inside the portal, allow users to gather together, share ideas, collaborate on issues, promote product innovation, and increase awareness and understanding of product features. Additional tools, including NPI registry and the 3M code viewer, are useful for improving data integrity, resulting in fewer rejected claims and increased revenue.

“At the core of our Company vision is the promise to help customers optimize clinical and financial workflow for net profit improvement and enhanced patient care,” commented Douglas Kegler, CollaborateMD founder and CEO. “The features in this release will provide the necessary tools our customers need to do exactly that, and serves as further assurance that we won’t stop working until every customer is fully optimized for success.”

    CollaborateMD Celebrates Ten-year Anniversary

Orlando, FL.—June 25, 2009—This year, CollaborateMD celebrates their tenth anniversary of providing hybrid SaaS practice management and medical billing software to physician offices and third-party billing services.

Reflecting on what initially triggered the development of CollaborateMD’s first software version, Founder & CEO Douglas Kegler explained, “I had begun writing several programs, but found a common problem: a combination of cluttered & cumbersome applications, surging IT expenditures, and clearinghouse and payer connection challenges made medical billing software virtually unattainable for practices with less than 25 physicians. I felt that practices of all sizes deserved a quality medical billing solution.”

Utilizing a unique hybrid SaaS technology platform, Kegler built a solution that minimized the costs associated with use while still being easy to use and maintain. Since launching their first practice management software program in 1999, which was limited to submitting claims to New York payers alone, CollaborateMD has increased their network to include over 3,000 institutional and professional payers. With a heavy concentration on service and support, CollaborateMD now employs roughly 30 employees and has been recently named an Inc. 5000 fastest-growing company.

“One year ago, we distributed a press release announcing rapid growth and forecasting record-breaking transactions for the coming year,” commented Kegler. “At that time, I attributed our success to the hard work and dedication of our exceptional team. I couldn’t be prouder, or more pleased, to reaffirm that sentiment as we celebrate ten years of being in business. No single word can accurately convey the immense gratitude I feel toward every customer, investor, and team member who has supported us over the years. To everyone who has, or will have, a hand in our ongoing success, we thank you.”

James M. Yurdin, M.D. and Betsy R. Yurdin, CollaborateMD’s first customer, had this to add about the celebratory announcement: “Congratulations to Doug Kegler and staff on ten years of providing consistently dependable software and support. We are a small practice and have benefited immeasurably by your affordable solution to our billing and practice management needs. Over the past ten years, though your products have become more sophisticated and your business has grown, you remained committed to user-friendly software that always meets the requirements of our payers. Of equal importance, at a time when it is hard to know who to trust, it is of great comfort to us that your CEO, Doug Kegler is a man of honesty and integrity; rare qualities in these uncertain times.”

Now serving nearly 4,000 active providers throughout every state, CollaborateMD remains focused on further expansion to accommodate their growing customer-base. Specific goals for this year include increasing the size of the support and software development teams, strengthening industry partnerships, and launching a new software release with an unprecedented list of features designed to optimize clinical and financial workflow for the improved net profitability of any healthcare office. Despite the heavy push toward reaching new growth milestones each year, CollaborateMD continues to contribute regularly to the various philanthropies it proudly supports.

CollaborateMD and X-Link Provide New Data Exchange Capabilities

Partnership Expands Interfacing Opportunities for CollaborateMD Customers

Orlando, FL.—June 4, 2009—CollaborateMD, a leading provider of hybrid SaaS medical billing software and practice management software for physician offices and third-party billing services, announced a new partnership with the X-Link Solutions Network to harness the power of their two-way real-time data transfer system. X-Link’s middleware offers a data exchange between CollaborateMD medical billing software and data service providers offered by a variety of manufacturers, which will afford current and prospective CollaborateMD users the opportunity to easily interface with multiple electronic medical record (EMR), lab, and mobile device solutions.

Patient demographics, insurance, appointments, and charge capture are the most commonly exchanged types of data. This content presents itself in a wide variety of formats and is transmitted across a myriad of connections, which is why a versatile middleware solution vastly eases the adoption of an EMR or other type of software that shares information with CollaborateMD’s solution.

“This business relationship will vastly expand our ability to accommodate requests for rapid turn-around time in setting up new interfaces,” commented Douglas Kegler, CollaborateMD president and CEO. “Upon receiving numerous customer requests to interface with certain clinical systems such as Amazing Charts—which is exclusive to X-Link—we quickly realized that offering the suite of interface solutions from Easy Business Software would make it even easier to do business with CollaborateMD.”

“In the medical field, physicians, administrators and nurses rely upon accurate billing and detailed records. X-Link allows you to stop maintaining and updating patient data separately in multiple programs and improve operational efficiency with real time access to data,” said Gary Gorsline, president and CEO of Easy Business Software, creators of X-Link. “Reducing human resources by utilizing X-Link allows greater productivity and time management, providing practices the opportunity to supply better patient care.”

By preventing double entry of patient data and charge information, and by pre-populating EMR systems with schedule/patient data, this middleware solution is expected to vastly improve office productivity. Other key end-user benefits include reducing errors and data inconsistencies, and improving billing turnaround by feeding completed patient encounter information, including charge captures, directly into the billing cycle. Overall, CollaborateMD’s choice to partner with X-Link will allow more EMR systems to easily integrate with the medical billing software, thereby giving providers more freedom to choose the EMR that works best for their specialty and work style. Some popular EMR choices have been SOAPware, Practice Partner, MediNotes, Praxis, Amazing Charts, and DreamEMR just to name a few.

According to the nomination criteria released by the local business journal, award eligibility was based upon the significance of contribution(s) made to the area’s health care industry. Kegler’s nomination form, submitted by his CollaborateMD team, cited his “enduring dedication to build customer loyalty” as a key reason they felt he was worthy of recognition.

A more likely explanation, however, is the unique hybrid Software as a Service (Saas) platform upon which Kegler built his medical billing software, which revolutionized the way in which medical organizations do business. Specifically, the hybrid model combines the advantages of a browser-based program with the benefits of a server-based application to offer speed, security, convenience and flexibility at an affordable price. Still, the free software updates and upgrades and the implementation of a pay-as-you go plan—which Kegler instituted nearly a decade ago to keep customers’ costs down—certainly carried enough weight to make the entrepreneur stand out in the eyes of the judges.

Kegler is joined by Lars Houmann, president and CEO of Florida Hospital, and John Hillenmeyer, president and CEO of Orlando Health, who are also recipients of the Health Care Hero award for Administrative Excellence.

    CollaborateMD Launches New Customer-centric Website

Total Redesign Delivers Enhanced Navigation and Interactivity

Orlando, FL.—October 15, 2008—CollaborateMD, a leading provider of Internet practice management and medical billing software for the healthcare industry, recently launched http://CollaborateMD.com, a brand new website built with visitor expectations in mind. After its soft launch late last week, the interactive website experienced an immediate spike in page views and average time on site per visitor.

After informally surveying previous site visitors throughout initial development and beta testing, the need for immediate customer response became a key component of the build-out. To that end, instant chat and messaging features as well as contact and quote request forms were added to speed up turn-around time and ensure site visitors receive answers in record time.

Despite the long list of enhancements, some characteristics of the old site have been carried over to the new one. In line with the Company’s philosophy of transparency—but in direct contrast with much of the competition—CollaborateMD still discloses pricing for core and ancillary services directly on their website. “Finding the best medical billing solution can be a daunting task for practices and billing services, and cost is an important factor,” declared Douglas Kegler, CollaborateMD president and CEO. “We aim to make that process as easy as possible by making our pricing accessible within a single click.”

Further efforts toward aiding prospective customers in their search for the right medical billing solution include offering key search tips, posting multimedia informational and training tools, offering a free software trial and money-back policy, and launching a wiki for software users. The site also boasts a business type-based navigation, allowing solo practices, group practices, and billing services to directly apply CollaborateMD pricing, features, and benefits to their respective businesses.
