Virginia Medicaid Behavioral Health Transition

Effective December 1, 2013, all behavioral health services currently being managed by Virginia Medicaid - including provider enrollment, claims and service authorizations - will transition to Magellan Behavioral Health Services. Information on these changes can be found at www.MagellanOfVirginia.com. This change does not impact any claims currently sent to Virginia Medicaid that are not related to behavioral health services.

Providers must be aware of the following:

CPID changes:
Behavioral Health claims containing Dates of Service prior to December 1, 2013 must continue to be submitted to Virginia Medicaid

CPIDs 1472 and 5538
Behavioral Health claims containing Dates of Service on or after December 1, 2013 must be submitted to Magellan Behavioral Health Services

CPIDs 1419 and 5539
Claims submitted to Magellan Behavioral Health Services must contain the following payer address information on every claim for appropriate routing:
Payer address1 must contain: PO Box 1099
Payer city, state and zip code must contain: Maryland Heights, MO 63043
Enrollment changes:
Payer agreements for electronic claims are not required.
Payer agreements for electronic remittance are required.

All Virginia Medicaid behavioral health providers are required to complete new agreements with Magellan Behavioral Health Services to continue receiving electronic remittance.
